Most people consider the mouth and the teeth to be “independent” parts of the body. Many people also don’t think of teeth as living tissues, connected to the rest of the body. The idea that less than optimum oral health could directly affect the health of your whole body is something that most people would brush off, including dentists. It’s just not a mainstream or widely practiced method of improving health. If it was, more dentists would make the connection and teach their patients how to improve overall health through their mouths.
